Government Guide: Would you pass

Government Guide: Would you pass the U.S. citizenship test? I got 10 of 12 right, but Sean only got 6 of 12. What are they teaching the kids in school these days?

As this Slate article points

As this Slate article points out, there's plenty of hypocrisy to go around.

Out of control from Salon

Out of control from Salon asks a good question: Why have conservative journalists lost it over the perfectly predictable battle in Florida?

I've been wondering the same

I've been wondering the same thing: Has the GOP gone nuts? I've seen much more intemperate stuff from the right than from the left. In Losing It, Jonathan Chait makes an interesting case that the Republicans are in full paranoia mode.

Shamelessly partisan, but really funny,

Shamelessly partisan, but really funny, Fearless Leader is Paul Begala's latest opinion piece on the election. In it, he begins by likening the Bushies to the North Koreans. And then he insults them.

Eeyore Urged to Concede "For Good Of Wood"

At present, the voting shows Pooh as the clear winner, with many votes, as opposed to Eeyore's some. However Owl, who is, as Eeyore points out, a Poohite, carried out the count, which supporters of the sad old grey wannabe say is a travesty of the democratic process.

"Yes, it's a what-you-said," agreed Eeyore.

Phil Agre's URL's on the

Phil Agre's URL's on the 2000 US Presidential Elections scrolled off the bottom of this page. He's still keeping it up to date, and it's still worth checking out if you're (like me) compulsive about keeping up to date.

Ginny, who recommended the links

Ginny, who recommended the links below, also pointed me to The Happy Heretic. What can you say about someone who recommends a Jehovah's Witness Protection Program?

I followed a link from the previous entry, and ended up at the Queen Jane's Bible. Interesting food for thought here. Not recommended for fundamentalists.

You've seen the Jesus Fish

You've seen the Jesus Fish and the Darwin Fish, of course. Now, there's the "Whatever" fish, at Who Gives A Fish. I really liked their version of the Noah and the ark story, too.

I've recommended the Red Rock

I've recommended the Red Rock Eater Digest here before, but I really recommend the current issue on The Florida Recount.

It is not true, of course, that everyone who voted for George
W. Bush is a fascist. Many good people who voted for Bush because
they believed that Al Gore had told a large number of lies about his
record; those people had been subjected to a disinformation campaign,
so one could hardly blame them. Those same people, however, must
now face the fact that the party for which they voted organized a
riot whose express purpose was to shut down the counting of votes.
The moral culpability for Bush voters who remain silent about this
fact is growing day by day, and the more they remain silent the more
we are entitled to conclude that they have no problem with fascist
tactics.
