Here's a quote from an article in Salon today:
"To their credit, Gore recount committee members don't slam the U.S. Supreme Court the way the Bush team members did the Florida Supreme Court. They don't call the U.S. Supreme Court Justices partisan hacks, or incessantly point out that Saturday's decision was 5-4. They don't question anyone's ethics or motives, their patriotism or their intelligence."
Last night I was talking about the election mess to our 12 year old son. One of the things that I mentioned to him was that I was really annoyed at the Bushies because they have consistently attacked the integrity of the judiciary whenever they get a decision that doesn't go their way. And that's just not right. You can't constantly prattle about the supremacy of the rule of law, then disrespect and undermine the courts for partisan reasons. It's shameful. But these folks have already shown, again and again, that they have no shame, only a hunger for power and a desire to win at any cost.
The Democrats haven't done everything right during this process, but they have certainly shown a much higher level of ethics than the Banana Republicans. And don't think that the American people haven't noticed that.
The only good thing to come out of this mess will be the backlash that will result in the turnover of both the House and Senate in 2002, followed by the end of the one-term Bush II administration in 2004. But it will be an ugly next few years in politics.

As you can see on this page, Latest California Seismic Events, we just had a small earthquake here. The one that I felt while sitting at the dining room table was the magnitude 4.2 quake that occurred at 11:41PM. It was just a small jolt; made the chandelier swing just ever so gently.

It's well known that drinking and driving don't mix. What's less well known is the horrible things that result when you combine sleep deprivation with credit cards.
Or in other words, did I really need to just now purchase pixel.mu for my cat?
I'm going to go to bed now, before things get really out of hand.

I'm in New Orleans, getting excited about Builder.com. Tom's at home, getting excited about having *real* bandwidth for the first time in a year. It's hard-core geekery this week, folks.
Yes, Tom, this means I was finally able to get online. And I was even able to figure out why I can't send email, too.
Joel pointed to this monitor
Joel pointed to this monitor on sale. Darn, that's cheap, and I have the money even. Now, I just have to figure out why I should buy it even though I don't need it. Anyone know how it compares to my old wonderful Apple 20"?

Boies on the Bus is an interesting piece on how Gore's uber-attorney goes about manipulating the press. Also of ironic note is that one of Boies' victims here is the Washington Post's Ceci Connolly, whose bias against Gore and frequent misrepresentations of fact throughout the campaign have been amply detailed in the excellent Daily Howler.

Tom, don't read this post, I'm doing your holiday shopping.
Al recommended La Cucina Italiana, a bi-monthly magazine on Italian cuisine, travel, and culture. ST recommended Science News, The Weekly Newsmagazine of Science.
More suggestions, any one?

Hmmm... we haven't had an election related link in a couple of days, so here's one: BushBlog. Ever wondered what it would be like if Dubya was a blogger? (Link via Meg at Cafe Helix)
