I said this to a

I said this to a few people at last month's Builder.com Live show, and I said it to a few more at this week's Macworld Expo, but I should say it publicly. The absolute bestest part of what I do is that I get to hang out with smart, sharp, witty, fun, knowledgeable people. As someone else said in one of these conversations, yeah, it's cool when people come up to you and say that something you've written or said made an impact on their lives, but the coolest part for me is that I've had a chance to meet and get to know so many wonderful people. And if I talked to you at one of these shows, you're on my list. I'm blessed.

What brings this to mind is that Susan Kitchens posted a picture of her, Tom, and myself at the Peachpit party. Susan, I'm glad you liked the ring--I like it, too! (and that Tom... what a cutie!).

Cam pointed to a wonderful page that contains links to lots of stats about browsers. I particularly found this page to be useful; it contains stats on how many people have what version of JavaScript.

My mother sent me to this quiz, which tests your cultural IQ over the 2nd half of the last century. I got 'em 100% right, which according to the test, means I'm over 40. Heh heh heh... which means that they got one wrong.

More on the G4 Powerbook:

More on the G4 Powerbook: There were a line of them available for demo in the Apple booth. I played with one for a bit (oh yeah, I want one), then picked it up and put my hand on the bottom, towards the back. Yow! It's hot back there. Too hot to hold your hand there for more than a second or so, and I'd guess too hot to hold on your lap, either. In fact, I'd wonder about the heat messing up the finish of a nice wood table, just like I'd want to use a coaster for a coffee mug.

You may have heard that

You may have heard that Apple announced the very cool-looking titanium G4 PowerBook. Here at Macworld Expo, Apple is showing them in their booth. They have them on these plexiglass cylindrical pedestals that are about 5 feet high. The top of the pedestal rotates and sports a spike, with a new PowerBook attached to the spike. Yesterday, the pedestals were surrounded by oohing-and-ahhing geeks, each of whom would reach out and stroke the side of the PowerBook.

It was just like the scene in 2001: A Space Odyssey with the apes and the monolith.

Brad pointed to Abdul the Great. Abdul is a teddy bear with an unusual personality. He is opinionated, egotistical, politically incorrect, uncouth and suffers from delusions of grandeur. We find him to be completely endearing. My kind of bear.
