I'm on the road again
I'm on the road again this week, so this link is to let me know what to pack. So far, it's looking worrisome that I have nothing in the way of snow clothes.
The DEA has now banned
The DEA has now banned hallucinogenic pretzels and tortilla chips. Hey, I feel safer already. But I have this nasty case of the munchies...

Could we soon see a cellphone on a single chip?
The number of unemployed people
The number of unemployed people rose 40 percent last year, to 8.3 million in December from 5.9 million in January, according to data published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. What to do? If you're the Bush administration, the solution is to cut funding for job training!
This week's Top Ten Conservative
This week's Top Ten Conservative Idiots. Dubya was actually chosen for this week's list twice. What a talent! At a tour of a John Deere farm machinery plant, "he spent several minutes honking the horn and flashing the lights on one of the company's trademark green and yellow combines." Sounds like he's well on his way to restoring the honor and dignity of the Presidency. Beeeeep!
Who is this Tony Negrino
Who is this Tony Negrino guy? Someone I should know, maybe?

Products I wish existed, part 23 in a series: Blogger Amateur.
New features: none, except that all those @#$% bugs that you complained about in 1999 are now fixed. No access to new servers, no pyRads, no posts via email, no spellchecking, no title fields, etc.
Cost: $35 per month per blog.
I'd pay it in a hot second.
For those of you who
For those of you who don't know, the reason that we bought this house was because the office is separate from the house. So, late last night, Tom and I were leaving the office and walking down the stairs, and I pointed out to him that he should be careful holding on to the railings, because they were icy and extremely slippery.
At which point, the steps decided to show that they were also, and my feet slipped and I went ass over tea kettle down the stairs.
Which is why I'm working from the living room today. It's warm, safe, and there aren't any stairs out to prove points and come after me.
And the word for the day is: Owwww.When it comes to Enron,
When it comes to Enron, Bush has only a nodding acquaintance with the truth.
For you music fans out
For you music fans out there (Alwin, please pick up the white courtesy phone), I see that the wonderful Patty Griffin has been officially signed to Dave Matthews' label, ATO Records. Her new album, 1000 Kisses, will be released April 9. This is great news for a terrific artist that has had more than her share of problems with idiot labels that didn't understand her music. Her last album, Silver Bell, was in the can when her then label, A&M Records, died. Interscope, which took over A&M, refused to put the album out, and also refused to give it back to her, so it may never see the light of day. Scum. ATO, by the way, stands for According To Our. Hee. If you're not already familiar with her two other albums, Flaming Red and Living With Ghosts, they're worth sampling. The two albums are very different; I prefer Flaming Red, which is a rock album, over the just-voice-and-guitar Living With Ghosts.

Tom requested that I post a link to the Good Eats Geek Code. He'll have to tell you himself how he scored.
This week's political science homework:
This week's political science homework: compare and contrast Not the Mrs. Clinton Washington Thought It Knew (New York Times, Jan. 24) with Hillary's Big Adventure (Washington Post, Jan. 27). For extra credit, consider the timing of each, the objectivity (or lack thereof) of each, what actual news (if any) each contains, and how the articles differ based on the target audience, particularly geographically.
Via Instapundit, the US decides
Via Instapundit, the US decides to screw Israel in order to suck up to the Saudis. When will the Bushies realize that Saudi Arabia is not our friend? The vast majority of the 9/11 terrorists were Saudi, financed by Saudi money and led by a Saudi. The current Saudi regime has refused to investigate the connections to 9/11 on its own territory, and impeded US efforts to strike back at the terrorists in Afghanistan. Other than oil, what does the US get out of this relationship?
