The fun part about doing
The fun part about doing the coding (see below) is that I get to name the classes. Anyone looking at the code will see that they're (at least currently) named "sane" and "tom". Heh.
The fun parts about doing
The fun parts about doing site redesigns are the things that we discover about our respective design sensibilities. For example, I prefer text that I read on screen to be serif, at a size that I would describe (and standards-compliant Web designers are burning me in effigy as you read this) as "about 12 point." Dori, on the other hand, prefers sans-serif type that is approximately the height of an atomic nucleus. Happily, she'll be able to code things so that both of us can be happy, thanks to the wonders of CSS and cookies. Readers will be able to switch the type to their preference.
Sean is doing a report
Sean is doing a report on Night and the Holocaust for school. He just came up to the office and asked me where he could get a map or two to add to his report. One quick Google search led to this collection of maps provided by A Teacher's Guide to the Holocaust. PDFs suitable for printing and everything!
Total time elapsed for the search and printing: less than ten minutes. Time it would have taken when Tom and I were kids: days, involving going to the library (or multiple libraries) and finding out if they even had a map that suited and a copy machine that worked.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love the Internet? We're inching towards Movable Type.
We're inching towards Movable Type. Dori got it installed and running, but we're thinking about what sort of site redesign we want before we import all these Blogger posts. We're slightly hampered by the unfortunate fact that neither of us are much good at design. She demoed the new features we'll have; looks like it will be pretty cool.

If you happen to be over at Scott Andrew's blog, and you notice that he has Richard Shindell tickets for sale, ignore it. We grabbed 'em already.
Add to that Open Table's ability to make restaurant reservations online, and our 1st anniversary celebration is in fine order.Note to self: check ReplayTV

Once again, I'm happy to
Once again, I'm happy to announce a new issue up at the Wise-Women Web site, including "Passing the Ten-second Test" by Rachel McAlpine, "Using FTP Server Access for Site Development with UltraDev" by Judy Fontanella, and more (book reviews, too). Check it out and pass it on!
Hey, if you're using ATTBI
Hey, if you're using ATTBI cable modem service (or many others, actually), did you know that you can save $10 a month by buying your own cable modem? I just bought this 3Com unit from Amazon; with a $20 mail-in rebate, it only costs $50. It'll be paying for itself before the fall. ATTBI has a page listing other compatible modems, too.

Here's another attempt at a way to keep track of the Sonoma County blogs I've come across:
Blogs with an asterisk have not been verified as being in Sonoma County. Sorry, but JavaScript is required for this one (hey, it's what I do, after all!).
And yet another Sonoma County
And yet another Sonoma County blog: debris.com. Sounds to me like it might be time for a webring or something.
