For those people wanting a glimpse into the almost-14-year-old geek boy demographic, or just those wishing to buy him a birthday present (only 16 shopping days left!), here's Sean's Amazon.com wish list. I can't imagine how we ended up with a kid this nerdy.Ooooh.... Dr. Bott has an
Ooooh.... Dr. Bott has an auto charger for the iPod. This would have been really useful on my last roadtrip. I felt silly hooking up my laptop in motel rooms each night just to recharge the iPod.

One of the things I
One of the things I got out of my trip to Seattle was that there's a lot of people out there who only read this blog, and therefore, I need to stop assuming that I can skip covering interesting tech stuff "because everyone else has blogged it already." With that in mind, here's my two links and two cents on Palladium: My take: it's a strawman. MS doesn't really expect to ever ship Palladium as its described above. They want to put the idea out that they plan to do it, get the expected public reaction, and then come up with a "modified plan" that "shows that they listened to consumers." That's the one to watch out for, because that version will be the one that they'll expect to actually ship. Be afraid, be very afraid. Or move to OS X.Jerry Kindall came up with
Jerry Kindall came up with some cool improvements to that bookmarklet I mentioned here last week, and then I couldn't resist tweaking his changes, so here's version 2.0 of # Fix. If you use Entourage and IE, I think it's a must have. Just drag the link up to your Favorites bar, and then click on it any time you're given a bum link.
Brad linked to The Sing-Along
Brad linked to The Sing-Along Sound of Music, coming this weekend to the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. Cool, thinks I--I have to check out this site, because I know a number of people in LA who might be interested. Then I notice that it's a tour, and there's one stop in Northern California. I assume that it's in San Francisco (usually a good assumption) and wonder if it's worth driving down for. To my complete surprise, the only Northern California stop is in my little town of under 10,000 people. Yep, The Sing-Along Sound of Music is coming to H'burg August 2, 9, 11, 16, and 18. Sometimes, I just love this place. So, if you're in Northern Cal, consider driving up here for a change. And if you do, drop me a line. And thanks, Brad!Jason Kottke and others have
Jason Kottke and others have pointed to the Eternal Ambition page as an example of high weirdness. If you liked that, check out MerchandiseInfo.com and follow the internal links. If you have any idea of what's going on there, please let me know.

Multiple people have sent me a link to Mathematical Lego™ Sculptures. Just the thing for a thirteen year old boy who's already bored with summer.
I know there's at least
I know there's at least 2 or 3 lawyers that read this blog, so maybe one of you could answer a question we have: has anyone written up something on the combination of a marriage contract and an NDA (non-disclosure agreement)? If I sign an NDA, is Tom automatically bound by it (and vice-versa)? Or is it the case where we're not allowed to talk to each other, as the NDA states? Yeah, right... I can just see that: "Honey, I just signed a great new book contract that I'll be working on for most of the rest of the year, but I can't tell you what the book's on. Oh, and be careful not to look over my shoulder, too, even though we sit only three feet apart from each other."

This is a test to see if that Blogger bug I was complaining about has been fixed. The good news is, it has--yay!Political correctness run amuck: a
Political correctness run amuck: a British theater company has renamed The Hunchback of Notre Dame because it "...could offend people with spina bifida or the disfiguring scoliosis of the spine." Aw, bite me. I was born with spina bifida, and I assure you that being offended by the names of classic French literary works is about the farthest thing from my mind. The overweening sensitivity and whining from the professional victim PC crowd is just a waste of time. And when people give in to this crap in the name of accomodation, I often find that to be even more offensive. It's a cheap way for "normal" people to show their virtue.
