Yummy French Toast
Just because I'm thinking of it, here's the Famous Caramel French Toast recipe. Highly recommended for Christmas morning breakfasts.First as tragedy, then as farce
The Mac G4 Cube tanked because it was underpowered and overpriced, but that doesn't stop PC makers from copying it.
But I have to say (for both machines): damn, that looks cooool.
Where's my credit card?
Oh. My. God. Al points to dealmac, who're pointing to a Dell 20-inch LCD monitor for $759 with free shipping. Yeah, I know I said a couple of days ago that I was looking for a new monitor, but this is ridiculous. As you might guess, the 15", 17", 18", and 19" monitors are pretty cheap, too. The downside? The offer is today only.Happy holidays, whatever holidays they may be
Via Making Light, one of the funniest pieces I've ever read on the Web: Have you ever wondered what Xmas would be like if it were a Jewish Holiday?..... Read it all, and the footnotes are the best part.God loves you, everyone else hates you
Yes, I'm really linking to a page on the American Family Association Web site. Survey: Few Outside Christianity Have Positive View of Evangelicals—Researcher Says Believers Perceived as 'Not Particularly Loving.' A group of evangelicals commissions a survey to find out where they stand in the opinion of Americans, and find out that, well, they're considered to be scum. "According to the survey, evangelicals came in tenth out of eleven, trailing lesbians and lawyers but beating out prostitutes." No surprises here to us.Good Eats Postcards
Another kind of Good Eats: James Lileks Restaurant Postcards. Via Paul Music.I want a political party, please
Go read what Instapundit is saying about Trent Lott. There's lots of links, and many of them are worth reading.
Why I'm not a Republican: while I agree with much of what they say about fiscal issues, so long as the Senate Majority Leader isn't taken to task for making public pronouncements that are pro-segregation and anti-civil rights, the party is unacceptable.
Why I'm not a Democrat: while I agree with much of what they say about social issues, so long as they can't figure out that this is a prime issue to hit the Republicans with, the party is unelectable.
Why I'm not a Green: while it's assumed that I favor the Greens because I disagree with much of what the two main parties say, it comes down for me to the Green Party slogan that the Democrats and Republicans agree on everything of importance. Which, to me, means that the Greens think that civil rights aren't important. Which makes the Greens, like the Republicans, unacceptable.
Why can't there be one good alternative, a party that's socially liberal and fiscally conservative? I'd vote for its candidates in a minute. If they were politically savvy, I'd donate money, too.
Oh, and congratulations from us here to Mary Landrieu! Yee hah!
