Perversion Tracker

Another for the "Why am I only finding out about this now?" category is PerversionTracker: Apparently Useless Software.
The highly trained PerversionTracker staff locates the very worst of Mac software. We search the web for 15 minutes a day — so you don't have to!

Academic summer programs

For my own reference in finding later: lots of links for interesting teen academic summer programs are at Petersons, TeenInk, Malibu High, and Miramonte High.

Conservative vs. Libertarian thought

This may be a first—something I agree with at OpinionJournal! In Sex, Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll: Libertarians have more fun—and make more sense, Susan Lee covers the differences between Libertarians and Conservatives. I'm a small "l" libertarian myself, as I think that most big "L" Libertarians are nutbars, but her take on the conservatives shows just what I hate most about the Republican party.

Dr. Bott a quack?

Crazy Apple Rumors reports that Dr. Bott Never Finished His Dissertation. We're shocked, shocked! Just watch: next they'll report that Dr. Mac doesn't have a doctorate either.

Trackback problems

This is a test to see if Rainer's trackbacks are working from MT. So far, so good, and I wish I could say the same for trackbacks from others to us.

Konfabulator is Kool

Okay, why am I only finding out about Konfabulator now? Very, very Kool. Widgets all over your desktop, doing all kinds of interesting things. And it's open, so that anyone can add their own widgets and share them, too. And best of all, it's yummy juicy easy JavaScript, not almost-but-not-quite-entirely-unlike-English AppleScript or some programming language that assumes that you got an A in OOP 101 in college.

[Quick rant]Why is this one of the first uses of JavaScript out there? It shouldn't have taken this long! It's built into OS 9, OS X, and Windows, for chrissakes! To the best of my knowledge, more books on JavaScript have been sold than on any other programming language. If you want to add scripting to your app, JavaScript is the one to leverage, because there's a good chance that at least some of your base has used it already, successfully. So, it's about damn time![deep breath][rant off]

Anyhow, check out Konfabulator.
