Apple sues Apple
I've been hearing predictions of this one for years now, and it's finally happened: Apple sued by The Beatles over iPod, iTunes Music Store. Now playing gently in the background: sosumi.Conference going tips
Scoble pointed to Derrick Story's Top Ten Tips for Mac Conference Goers and David McNamee's additional tips along with adding a few of his own. I ought to write something like this up sometime, if only for myself. Whenever I'm at a conference, there's always something I remember too late that I told myself to bring some previous time.
But be sure to note Derrick's 8th tip: he doesn't think that the O'Reilly OS X Conference Early Bird Discount will be extended, so if you're thinking about going, sign up now.
Memorial
I'd like to say something deep and meaningful here as an anniversary memorial, but there's no way on earth I'd say it better than Wil Wheaton did today. So, go there instead.
Good job, Wil.
How Bush Blew It
Bush's Many Miscalculations shows how after Sept. 11, the president was handed a historic opportunity to build a new system of international security for the post-Cold War era. He ignored it.BlogforAmerica at BloggerCon
New news from BloggerCon: Mathew Gross, one of the top guys behind the Dean campaign weblog, will be speaking there. If anyone attending wants to ask a question on my behalf, here's mine:
Given that:
- the Dean campaign has said that they'd like to continue the weblog after Dean enters the White House
- if Dean takes office, the weblog would be required to follow Section 508 regulations
- the blog, as-is, couldn't find standards compliance or accessibility if it... well, let's just say that it has some serious problems.
Are there any plans to change the weblog in the future to better suit the needs of the disabled? After all, some of them do vote.
And yes, I've offered privately to help the Dean campaign out, and no, there hasn't been any response. They're busy folks, and they get tons of email, but they need to jump on this one before they get sued.
Of course, this applies to the Web sites and blogs for every presidential candidate, but this just seems like a good chance to talk directly to at least one person who's actually in a position to do something about the problem.
Opus returns!
A piece of wonderful news: Opus the Penguin Back In the Funny Business. Half-page and Sundays only, Berke Breathed is coming back in November with a new strip, "Opus." That's one of the few things that could actually get me to subscribe to a dead-tree edition of a newspaper again.Zevon obit by Dave Barry
Dave Barry and Warren Zevon were good friends, so it's only appropriate that Dave wrote Warren's obit for the Miami Herald.Bye, Leni
Triumph of the will, failure of the heart: Leni Riefenstahl dies at 101.Me, talking
Just a reminder: tomorrow night (Tuesday) I'll be talking about User Interface Design using DHTML for the Sonoma County Web Developers SIG. If you're local, c'mon by!
And I'm borrowing this bit o' Flash from them, 'cause it's cool they did it:
