Desktop pictures

Looking for a new desktop picture (aka wallpaper)? Here's my latest fave; it looks amazing on my big 20" flat panel. I still have this one on my PowerBook, and it never fails to get a reaction from anyone who sees it. And of course, there's my old faves at Blue Sky Heart Graphics.

Customized Bush/Cheney posters

We've seen this kind of thing before, done first and better by Deanies. But here's the online capability to generate your own Bush/Cheney custom posters.

Okay, you found that interesting... here's what's even better: sometimes you put in your slogan, and someone else's comes out! For instance, I put in "Unemployed thanks to" and got back "Vote drunk, vote often!" Put anything in, and see what you get back.

If you're having trouble making it work, be sure to turn off your popup blocker. And as you might expect, this link was courtesy of Wonkette.

Another AFA poll!

After their last fiasco, you'd think the bozos at the AFA (aka American Family Association), would know better than to put up another online poll. But they have, and this one's on "Whom do you favor for the next President of the United States?" Go here to vote, or just read the current results here. Current stats:

John Kerry 90.11 %
George Bush 3.77 %
Ralph Nader 6.12 %

Later note: I know that it's entirely coincidental and unrelated, but I'm still a little creeped out by the fact that in between the time and hit "post" and the new entry went up, two Jehovah's Witnesses came to my office. But you'd probably have to know how hard my office is to find before you could understand just how creepy this was.

EchoStar Pulls Viacom Channels

This sucks: EchoStar Pulls Viacom Channels. Until this is solved, we're Daily Show and Jon Stewart-deprived! Update: Hey, we're not deprived after all. We not only have Dish Network, but we also get basic cable, which we use for local network channels. Our ReplayTV consolidates the cable and Dish into one program guide. So all I needed to do was to delete the Daily Show record event for Dish, and make a new one for the cable. We prefer whenever possible to use the Dish feed because it's better quality and we can record stuff on East Coast time. So now we'll have to wait until 11 PM for Jon to grace our TV's, just like normal folks. Poor us.

More me elsewhere

The sharp-eyed may notice that I'm starting to contribute at Weblogs, Inc., primarily their Unofficial Apple Weblog and a new, as-yet-unannounced weblog. C'mon over there and read, and if you have any suggestions for blog items, click the "Send it in" links that are on every page. See you there!

No, this doesn't mean that I'm dropping this blog. No one's paying me to rant about grooming tips over there <g>.

Job Growth Anemic in February?

I've seen lots of writeups about the lousy job numbers last month such as this article, Job Growth Anemic in February. But almost no one has pointed out what I think is the key graf in it:
Private-sector employment showed no gains. Government hiring was the only reason the nonfarm payroll count rose.
So, we'd have full employment if it weren't for those Republicans sticking to their smaller gov't platform, right?
