Holiday thoughts
A couple of quick holiday thoughts, because I still haven't finished my shopping yet:- Ya gotta love a site called Letters From Bad Santa: Have Santa tell someone YOU know that they'll be getting only coal this year. For only $3.95, some of the letters are really damn funny.
- Here's a repeat of something I posted last year, Wacky holiday tunes:
Having trouble getting in the holiday spirit, but you don't want to hear another Muzak version of Silver Bells or you'll scream? Here's your hot tip:- Launch iTunes
- Under "Source" on the left, click on "Radio"
- Click on the arrow next to "Holiday" to make its options appear
- Click on "Xmas in Frisco—SomaFM's eclectic, irreverent holiday mix"
- Wait; some times it takes a while to come in
Later note: Here's SomaFM's site, and here's what they've played recently. We say, check 'em out.
Don't depend on beta software
Note to self: Mary Hodder is a moron.

Style Master CSS podGuide
This is just so slick: the Style Master podGuide from WestCiv.
The Style Master CSS podGuide is an iPod ready edition of our renowned Complete CSS Guide. Featuring a handy overview of CSS concepts, and in-depth information for every selector, property and @rule of CSS 2.1, the CSS podGuide is a must have for any web developer with an iPod, and just one more reason to get an iPod if you don't already.
All that, and it's free for the downloading.
Gadget lust
Yeah, I know I have a reputation as a gadget geekette (gadgette?), but one of the problems of that is that my travel bag seems to be continually overflowing with the new and cool stuff that I just have to carry with me. Consequently, I'm always on the lookout for ways to get stuff out of my bag, i.e., one thing that will replace two (or more) things. Here's a new one on me: the RoadWired Cordz Multi-Connection Survival Tool. It's an Ethernet cable with adapters that turn it into a phone cable—sweet. I've added it to my holiday wish list.
In a similar, though slightly different vein, I also love the stuff from Zip-Linq. They don't replace multiple things in my bag, but they do make everything smaller.
All is forgiven
Last week I wrote, "It's a sad day when we now have to hate John Moltz." With his latest piece, Crazy Apple Rumors Site: Apple Linked To Comment Spam Attack, John has weaseled himself back into my good graces and all is forgiven.
Hey John, you going to Macworld Expo?
Quick Hits
We're both busy (and for freelancers, busy is good), so no real blogging here from either of us. In lieu of actual content, here's some links that may be worth your time:
- Jodie has (finally!) brought back Score Brownie Points, and just in time for the holidays. If you're a guy who has no idea what to get the woman in your life, you could do a lot worse than to take Jodie's advice.
- We may be too busy with paying gigs to blog, so help us make some money off this blog so we can be here instead. If we sell just a few more items on Amazon this quarter, we'll be way ahead, so go check out their DVD Blowouts.
- Speaking of Amazon.com, if you're friends or family and you're having trouble deciding what to get Sean for a present, you can find his Amazon.com wish list here. Yes, he's a teenage Mac geek. We know that.
- We have no idea who the guy is behind Mac Friendly Marketing, but we love the concept:
Millions of Mac users are Internet savvy consumers who spend money too. Are you making it hard for them to buy your products?
I haven't even looked at the free eBook being offered there, and I still want y'all to go look at it and tell your friends.
"Most web site owners are not even aware that there are millions of Mac computer users surfing the Internet every day. They simply assume everyone is using a PC with Windows software."
Intelligent Design? I Think Not
A common assertion from the "intelligent design" crowd (that is, people who can't imagine or understand the concept of evolution, so they have to fall back on God. They used to be called creationists, but after legal failures, they realized that wasn't working for them, and came up with the intelligent design scam.) is that complex structures like eyes could not have evolved, so they must have been designed by a Cosmic Architect. Where d'you get those peepers is a Richard Dawkins article that discusses how eyes are, in terms of geological time, not that difficult to evolve. All entries © 1999-2010 Backup Brain, LLC
