The next time I go into a voting booth and cast my vote for President of the United States, I want to vote for someone who honestly gives a crap. I’m not talking about some bullshit “I feel your pain” thing, either. I’m talking about someone who understands, really gets it, that his or her actions will have real consequences to the lives of every American. I want someone who not only knows what needs to be done, but why it should be done, and has a clear plan of how to get there. I want to see someone in office who can wipe away the foul stain of the soulless, greed-sucking Bush years, and who convinces me that they know that it is a moral imperative to do so.
That’s why I’m rejecting the cool, technocratic campaigns of Obama and Hillary. It’s not that I don’t think they’re smart; they are. It’s not that I think they don’t care; they do. It’s that I don’t believe that they see themselves as leading a crusade to make America better, and I don’t think they really burn to set right what’s gone so horribly wrong over the last seven years. I think they just want to be President.
That’s why I’m supporting John Edwards for President. Health care is one of the most important issues for me, and this video from a campaign stop in New Hampshire shows that Edwards gets it. I completely agree with what Elizabeth Edwards says in the video, that if a candidate proposes to leave any American uninsured after their health care plan is enacted, then it’s time to find another candidate. Watch it. It might convince you, too.
