Vulcania Naval Watch: Beautiful, unavailable
The Vulcania Naval Watch is a hand-built watch inspired by Captain Nemo's home in the Disney version of Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea. It's absolutely gorgeous; check out the pictures. It appears that only eleven of these will be made, so we're not going to be getting one. But a boy can dream...

Alton Brown is a multigeek. Like I'm surprised.
Alton Brown is the well-known food geek and mad scientist in charge of Food Network's Good Eats. Turns out that he's not just interested in food, he also has a love for space exploration. On the latest post on his Web site (warning: no permalink, so this link will rot in time), he recounts his video chat conversation "...with International Space Station Commander Michael Lopez-Alegria who was about 175 nautical miles over my head at the time." Lopez-Alegria is a Good Eats fan, and NASA arranged a talk with Alton. Check it out.
Home again
We're back from Austin and SXSW. We had a great time, and we hope to talk a bit about it over the next few days. But for now, it's time for bed.
Quick SXSW Report
Our talk yesterday at South by Southwest was well received, I'm happy to say. Right after the session, and throughout the day today, people have been coming up to both of us and saying how they enjoyed it. The trade show portion is nice, too, partly because the booths are mixed between the Interactive and Film parts of the conference, so it's an interesting mix.
The funniest vendor at the trade show was the US Army, who was there to push their Web site. They have swag that cracks me up: olive green foam squeezy grenades. We'll get a picture up later.
