Dori's Grand Unified Theory of Women, Girls, Chicks, and Babes
Last week, I ended up on an all-female MacJury podcast (not counting the moderator) discussing the Mac market (and otherwise) and how women are marketed to. When that went live, it caused some chatter on Twitter, which then got brought up again last night at an excellent dinner and discussion I had with Tom and Jean MacDonald of SmileOnMyMac.
What we all discovered is that we use words like "girl," "chick, and "babe," and we assume that other people have the same definitions for those words that we do—but that's not a valid assumption, so we end up talking at each other instead of with each other.
So, I promised that I'd give my definitions, and it ended up just being simpler to make it a chart:
